- For Misal:
- 11/4 cup misal pulses(ready available)
- 1 pinch baking soda
- Salt to taste
- For tempering ;(Misal)
- 2 tbsp oil
- 2 tbsp homemade misal masala powder
- 1 tsp red chilli powder
- Salt to taste
- For Potato wada/ batata wada
- 2 medium boiled potatoes
- Salt to taste
- 2 tbsp spicy green chillies ginger paste
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 2 tbsp finely chopped fresh coriander leaves
- For tempering (on wada stuffing)
- 1 tsp oil
- 1/2 tsp urad dal
- 1/2 tsp mustard cummin seeds
- leaves Few curry
- 1/4 tsp tumeric powder
- 1/4 tsp asafoetida (hing)
- For besan batter:
- 1/2 cup besan
- 1 tsp red chilli powder
- Salt to taste
- 1/8 tsp baking soda
- Oil for frying
- For spicy Tari
- 1 tbsp oil
- 1/4 tsp mustard seeds
- 1/4 tsp cummin seeds
- 1/8 tsp asafoetida hing
- 1 chopped onion
- 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
- 1 tbsp misal masala powder
- 1/4 tsp tumeric powder
- 1 tsp red chilli powder
- 1/2 tsp dhaniya jeera powder
- 1 big tomato finely chopped
- Salt to taste
- 1 cup water
- To serve :
- 8 laddi pav
- Finely chopped onion
- pieces Lemon
- Mixed Farshan (ready available)
Instructions to make to make Misal Pav with spicy Tari
- Wash and soak misal pulses for 6-8 hours. Pressure cook with salt and baking soda for 6-7 whistles. Let the steam escape from cooker before opening the lid.
- In cooking pan add heat oil add misal masala powder and red chilli powder. Saute for 30 seconds. Pour cooked misal pulses, salt to taste. Add water. Simmer for 5 minutes.
- For making batata wada.. peel and mash boiled potatoes in mixing bowl. Add green chillies ginger paste salt and lemon juice, corainder leaves.
- Prepare tempering..in tadka pan add heat oil add urad dal saute till pinkish,add mustard cummin seeds as splutter add asafoetida curry leaves and tumeric powder. Pour this tempering on prepare potato mixture. Mix well. Make equal size round flattened balls.
- In another mixing bowl add besan, salt and red chilli powder. Mix well add water to make batter. Add & mix baking soda and whisk for 2 minutes to make smooth batter.
- Heat oil for frying. Dip each prepared potato flattened ball in besan batter and drop gently in hot oil. Deep fry on medium flame till crispy golden. Similarly prepare all batata wadas.
- To prepare spicy Tari..in another cooking pan add heat oil. Add mustard + cummin seeds as splutter add asafoetida. Add chopped onion and saute till brown in colour.
- Add ginger garlic paste, tumeric powder, chopped tomato pieces,add little water and cook till tomato pieces soften. Add misal masala powder,red chilli powder, dhaniya jeera powder, salt and water. Mix well and simmer for 5 minutes.
- To assemble/ serve.. In deep plate pour 2-3 laddleful of prepared hot Misal. On it place hot batata wada. On it pour 2-3 tbsp spicy tari(as per taste). On it sprinkle chopped onion and mix farshan. Squeeze lemon juice and garnish with mix farshan. Serve with Pav.
- Serve/ Relish delicious hot Misal Pav Wada with spicy Tari.
