- 3 medium size potatoes, boiled, peeled and grated
- 2 tbsp oil
- 1/3 cup chopped onion
- 1 tsp ginger paste
- 1/2 tsp garlic paste
- 2 green chillies finely chopped
- 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp cumin powder
- 1/4 tsp red chili powder
- to taste Salt
- 1 tbsp chopped coriander leaves
- 1/4 cup fried peanut
- For Batter:-
- 1 cup besan (gram flour)
- 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
- 1/4 tsp red chili powder
- Pinch baking soda
- as per taste Salt
- as required mustard Oil for deep frying
- 1/2 cup water
Steps to make to make Bengali Aloo Chop
- Firstly, in a large kadai heat 2 tbsp oil,add chopped onion and saute for about 2 minutes. Add ginger paste, garlic paste, stir well then add chopped green chillies. Saute till the onion turns translucent, about 2 minutes. Toss in turmeric powder, cumin powder, red chili powder. Stir well.
- Now add boiled grated potato and chopped coriander leaves, salt to taste. Mix everything very well and cook for about 2-3 minutes that masala perfectly mix with potatoes.
- Switch off the flame add fried peanut. Mix it well with potatoes and keep it aside.
- Now in a big bowl, take 1 cup besan add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, salt to taste and baking soda and make a thick semi liquid lumps free batter by adding water gradually.
- Now take a small sized aloo mixture, flatten slightly, dip in besan batter and coat uniformly.
- Deep fry in hot oil, stirring occasionally.
- Once aloo chop turns golden brown colour drain off over kitchen paper.
- Serve it hot warm with tea, puffed rice or tomato ketchup and salad....
